- 2 cups fresh or frozen tart cherries
- 4 cups water
- 2 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Prepare the Cherries: Rinse the cherries thoroughly. If using fresh cherries, remove the stems and pits.Simmer: In a medium saucepan, combine the cherries and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.Blend: Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth.Strain: Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the juice into a bowl, pressing down to extract all the liquid.Sweeten and Serve: Stir in honey or agave syrup and lemon juice, adjusting to taste. Serve chilled or over ice.
