Potato Gratin

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese (or cheddar)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
    Layer the sliced potatoes evenly in the dish.
    In a bowl, mix cream, garlic, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Pour over potatoes.
    Sprinkle cheese on top.
    Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
    Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
    Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
  • Can be prepared ahead and reheated.
