Ingredients
  

For the Cake:

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp tsp salt
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

For the Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat and Prepare:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or use a non-stick spray.
    Cream Butter and Sugar:
    In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add Eggs:
    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Combine Dry Ingredients:
    In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    Mix Wet Ingredients:
    In another bowl, combine sour cream, milk, and vanilla extract.
    Incorporate Dry and Wet Ingredients:
    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream mixture. Mix until just combined.
    Fold in Chocolate Chips:
    If using, gently fold in mini chocolate chips.
    Bake:
    Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    Cool:
    Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
    Prepare the Frosting:
    In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
    Frost the Cake:
    Spread or pipe the frosting over the cooled cake. Decorate as desired.
