For the Coffee Mixture
- 1½ cups strong brewed espresso (cooled)
- 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
For the Cream Layer
- 4 large egg yolks
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold)
For Assembly
- 30 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
Step 1: Prepare the Coffee MixtureBrew a strong espresso and let it cool to room temperature. Mix in coffee liqueur for added depth of flavor. Set aside. Step 2: Make the CreamIn a heatproof bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and whisk continuously for 8-10 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.Fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth and creamy.In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks. Gently fold it into the mascarpone mixture. Step 3: Assemble the TiramisuDip ladyfingers briefly into the coffee mixture and arrange them in a single layer in a rectangular dish.Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining cream.
