  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal About 150g
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter About 60g
  • 10 oz mini marshmallows About 280g
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • to taste black food coloring
  • to taste gold food coloring
  • to taste black and gold sprinkles Optional, for decoration
  • as needed cooking spray or parchment paper For preparing the baking pan

Preparation

  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and remove the pot from heat.
  • Divide the melted marshmallow mixture into two separate bowls. Add black food coloring to one bowl and gold food coloring to the other. Mix well until each is evenly colored.
  • Divide the Rice Krispies cereal between the two bowls and stir until the cereal is fully coated with the marshmallow mixture in each bowl.
  • Press the black Rice Krispies mixture into the prepared pan in an even layer. Then layer the gold Rice Krispies mixture on top, pressing down gently.
  • Sprinkle with black and gold sprinkles if using. Let the bars cool for 1-2 hours or until set.
  • Once set, remove the Rice Krispie bars from the pan and slice them into squares or rectangles.

Notes

For extra sparkle, consider adding edible glitter or metallic gold leaf. The bars are customizable to match any party theme or team colors.
