Ingredients

  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1  tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 package store-bought pie crusts (or homemade dough)
  • Oil for frying (or baking spray for baked version)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Set aside.
Roll out the pie crust and cut into rectangles (about 4x5 inches).
Place a spoonful of the apple mixture onto one half of each rectangle.
Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C) or preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for a baked version.
Fry the pies until golden brown (2-3 minutes per side) or bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy.
Remove and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, bake the pies instead of frying.
  • Adjust sugar levels based on the sweetness of your apples.
