- 1 block firm tofu
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Press the tofu by wrapping it in a clean towel and placing something heavy on top for 15-20 minutes.
- Cut the pressed tofu into nugget-sized pieces (1-2 inches).
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each tofu piece into the soy sauce mixture, then coat with cornstarch followed by breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a skillet until shimmering.
- Fry the nuggets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain excess oil on paper towels and serve warm.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To make gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and tamari instead of soy sauce.
