A rich and creamy Vanilla American Buttercream Frosting perfect for any baked goods.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks, softened)
- 16 oz powdered sugar (1 pound, about 3.5–4 cups)
- 1–2 tbsp milk or heavy whipping cream (up to 1/4 cup, optional)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Cream the softened butter using a mixer on medium-high speed until pale yellow, about 4-5 minutes.
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract; mix on low speed for about one minute until crumbly.
- Increase speed to medium and continue mixing for another 3-4 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- Check consistency; add milk or cream gradually if needed.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
