Description
A delicious and customizable BBQ sandwich recipe that captures the essence of summer gatherings with juicy grilled meat and fresh toppings.
Ingredients
- Soft brioche or potato rolls
- Boneless chicken breasts, pork shoulder, or beef brisket (or jackfruit/portobello mushrooms for vegetarian)
- BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Crisp romaine or butter lettuce
- Ripe tomatoes
- Red onions or caramelized onions
- Pickles
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F). Season your choice of meat with salt, pepper, and your favorite BBQ rub. Grill until fully cooked (for chicken, internal temperature should reach 165°F; for pork or brisket, about 195°F).
- Slice the bread rolls in half and butter the insides lightly. Grill them cut-side down until they are slightly crispy, about 1-2 minutes.
- Slice the grilled meat into thin pieces and generously spread BBQ sauce on the inside of each toasted roll.
- Assemble the sandwich with grilled meat, lettuce, tomato slices, red or caramelized onions, and pickles.
- Close the sandwich and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, use a high-quality meat rub; it enhances the flavor immensely. Leftover meat can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
