Description

A delicious and customizable BBQ sandwich recipe that captures the essence of summer gatherings with juicy grilled meat and fresh toppings.

Ingredients

  • Soft brioche or potato rolls
  • Boneless chicken breasts, pork shoulder, or beef brisket (or jackfruit/portobello mushrooms for vegetarian)
  • BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Crisp romaine or butter lettuce
  • Ripe tomatoes
  • Red onions or caramelized onions
  • Pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F). Season your choice of meat with salt, pepper, and your favorite BBQ rub. Grill until fully cooked (for chicken, internal temperature should reach 165°F; for pork or brisket, about 195°F).
  2. Slice the bread rolls in half and butter the insides lightly. Grill them cut-side down until they are slightly crispy, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Slice the grilled meat into thin pieces and generously spread BBQ sauce on the inside of each toasted roll.
  4. Assemble the sandwich with grilled meat, lettuce, tomato slices, red or caramelized onions, and pickles.
  5. Close the sandwich and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use a high-quality meat rub; it enhances the flavor immensely. Leftover meat can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
