Description

A 15-minute comfort food marvel combining creamy tuna salad with melted cheese between crispy bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can of tuna (5 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar or American)
  • Butter for spreading

Instructions

  1. Prep the tuna mixture by draining and flaking the tuna into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix in the mayonnaise, chopped celery, chopped onion, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper, mixing well.
  3. Butter the bread on one side of each slice.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat until the butter begins to melt.
  5. Assemble the sandwich with one slice of bread buttered side down and half of the tuna mixture with cheese on top.
  6. Finish with the second slice of bread, buttered side up, and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Flip the sandwich carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  8. Slice the sandwich in half and serve warm.

Notes

Consider adding jalapeños for spice or using different types of cheese for varied flavor.
