- 3 medium squid (cleaned and innards removed)
- 1 head garlic, minced
- 8 Thai chilis (red and green), chopped
- 3 tablespoons lime juice (preferably freshly squeezed)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- Mint leaves to garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Clean the squid: Rinse each squid thoroughly under cold water and clean out the insides.
- Steam the squid: Place the cleaned squid in a steam basket over boiling water and steam for about 3-4 minutes until they turn opaque and tender.
- Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix minced garlic, chopped chilis, lime juice, fish sauce, and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
- Taste test the sauce and adjust lime or sugar if needed.
- Layer the cabbage on a serving plate.
- Top with squid, drizzle with sauce, and garnish with mint leaves.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. The sauce can be made a day in advance.
