Description

A flavorful Thai dish featuring tender steamed squid drizzled with a zesty lime and garlic sauce, perfect for impressing guests.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium squid (cleaned and innards removed)
  • 1 head garlic, minced
  • 8 Thai chilis (red and green), chopped
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice (preferably freshly squeezed)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • Mint leaves to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean the squid: Rinse each squid thoroughly under cold water and clean out the insides.
  2. Steam the squid: Place the cleaned squid in a steam basket over boiling water and steam for about 3-4 minutes until they turn opaque and tender.
  3. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix minced garlic, chopped chilis, lime juice, fish sauce, and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Taste test the sauce and adjust lime or sugar if needed.
  5. Layer the cabbage on a serving plate.
  6. Top with squid, drizzle with sauce, and garnish with mint leaves.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. The sauce can be made a day in advance.
