Description

A hearty Texas-style beef chili that is rich in flavor and perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: Shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions

Instructions

  1. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat a drizzle of oil over medium-high heat. Brown the beef stew meat for about 5-6 minutes until nicely seared on all sides.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, and oregano. Cook for another minute to release the spices’ fragrance.
  4. Pour in the diced tomatoes and beef broth. Stir everything together and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 2-3 hours.
  6. Once cooked, season with salt and pepper according to taste.
  7. Ladle the chili into bowls and top with shredded cheese, sour cream, and green onions. Enjoy!

Notes

Allow your ingredients to come to room temperature beforehand for even cooking. This chili keeps beautifully and is even better the next day.
