Description

A creamy, indulgent onion dip made with sweet onions and smoked Gouda, perfect for game days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mild Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded smoked Gouda cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions, stirring frequently. Cook until the onions are sweet and tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, shredded mild Cheddar, shredded smoked Gouda, and sautéed onions. Mix until well combined and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before garnishing with chopped green onions. Serve warm with chips or crusty bread.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Dip can be frozen for 3 months before baking.
