Description

A heartwarming recipe for homemade stuffed cabbage rolls, filled with savory ground beef, rice, and aromatic spices, all simmered in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves one at a time and blanch them in boiling water for about 1 minute until pliable. Drain and set aside to cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll it up tightly, tucking in the sides.
  5. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in a baking dish and pour the remaining tomato sauce over them.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

Cool your cooked rolls before freezing them; they’ll last up to three months. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the filling reaches at least 160°F (70°C).
