Description
A heartwarming recipe for homemade stuffed cabbage rolls, filled with savory ground beef, rice, and aromatic spices, all simmered in a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves one at a time and blanch them in boiling water for about 1 minute until pliable. Drain and set aside to cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll it up tightly, tucking in the sides.
- Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in a baking dish and pour the remaining tomato sauce over them.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
Notes
Cool your cooked rolls before freezing them; they’ll last up to three months. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the filling reaches at least 160°F (70°C).
