Description

A comforting and easy dessert featuring juicy strawberries topped with a crunchy oat crisp, perfect for family gatherings or a delightful treat at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 to 6 cups halved strawberries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 10 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons sliced almonds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 9-inch square baking dish or deep dish pie pan with cooking spray.
  2. Mix together the halved strawberries, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and cornstarch in a medium bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes, then transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  3. Prepare the topping by stirring together the flour, oats, brown sugar, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon in another medium bowl. Pour the melted butter over the mixture and mix until crumbly.
  4. Assemble by dropping spoonfuls of the topping over the strawberry filling. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbly. Add sliced almonds in the last 10 minutes of baking.
  5. Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Notes

Fresh, ripe strawberries yield the best flavor. Can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for freshness.
