Description

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter (chilled)
  • 1 Cup Milk or Buttermilk
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix in the baking powder and salt until well combined.
  3. Dice the cold butter into small cubes and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk (or buttermilk), mixing gently until a dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 3-4 times.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1.2 inches thick.
  7. Using a round biscuit cutter, cut out your biscuits.
  8. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and let them rest for about 10 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F) and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  10. Transfer the biscuits to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra golden tops, brush with melted butter before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
