Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla, and almond extract, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass, dipping the glass in sugar for extra sweetness.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly golden around the edges.
  9. Let cool on wire racks before enjoying.
