Description
A cozy and flavorful slow cooker dish that combines the classic tastes of stuffed cabbage rolls without the hassle of rolling leaves.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
- 1 (14-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes
- 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until slightly pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet with the beef, stir in thyme, parsley, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the onions soften, about 3-5 minutes.
- Place the beef mixture in the slow cooker followed by the chopped cabbage. Toss to combine.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Stir well to combine.
- Pour the tomato mixture over the meat and cabbage in the slow cooker. Gently mix to ensure everything is coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Notes
For better mixing, let the ground beef come to room temperature before cooking. Use fresh herbs whenever possible for a fragrant boost.
