Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 (14-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until slightly pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  2. Add the diced onion to the skillet with the beef, stir in thyme, parsley, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the onions soften, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Place the beef mixture in the slow cooker followed by the chopped cabbage. Toss to combine.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Stir well to combine.
  5. Pour the tomato mixture over the meat and cabbage in the slow cooker. Gently mix to ensure everything is coated.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Notes

For better mixing, let the ground beef come to room temperature before cooking. Use fresh herbs whenever possible for a fragrant boost.
