Description

Delightful bite-sized pastries filled with sweet apple-caramel and spices, offering all the comfort of traditional apple pie in a fun portable form.


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree (optional)
  • ½ cup caramel sauce, melted slightly
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Cut in butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add cold water, stirring until the dough comes together. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Apple-Caramel Filling: In a skillet, melt butter and sauté apples with brown sugar until soft. Add spices and caramel, stir, and let cool.
  3. Assemble the Bombs: Roll out dough, cut into circles, fill with apple-caramel (or pumpkin filling if using), and seal edges. Brush with egg wash.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F, place bombs on a baking sheet, and bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use very cold butter for a flaky texture. Feel free to substitute ingredients as desired.
