- 2 pounds large shrimp (21–24 count), peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tablespoon salt for cooking water
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter plus more to grease the pan
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 ounces shredded medium cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish generously with butter.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning.
- Once boiling, add the shrimp and cook until they turn opaque, about 30 seconds. Do not overcook!
- Drain the shrimp and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
- Stir in the mayonnaise, garlic powder, and pepper, blending until the shrimp are coated evenly.
- Fold in the mozzarella and cheddar cheese until well mixed.
- Transfer the shrimp mixture into the prepared casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Melt the butter in a small pan over low heat. Stir in the panko bread crumbs until they are all coated.
- Sprinkle the buttery bread crumbs over the shrimp mixture in the casserole.
- Bake uncovered for 13-15 minutes, or until the center reaches 145°F.
- Broil for 1-2 minutes to achieve a golden-brown topping.
- Allow the casserole to rest for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For best flavor and texture, use full-fat mayonnaise and consider combining different cheeses.
