Description

A delightful twist on classic cookies featuring browned butter, chewy caramel centers, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • Flaky sea salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir until it turns golden brown and smells nutty, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract into the sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the caramel bits.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
  9. As soon as they come out of the oven, sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, consider freezing them.
