Description
A delightful twist on classic cookies featuring browned butter, chewy caramel centers, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup caramel bits
- Flaky sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir until it turns golden brown and smells nutty, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract into the sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Gently fold in the caramel bits.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
- As soon as they come out of the oven, sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
