Ingredients

- 4 medium ripe tomatoes (about 1 lb), diced
- ½ white onion, finely diced
- 1–2 serrano peppers, minced (seeds removed for milder heat)
- ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tbsp lime juice (about 1 lime)
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
- Optional: 1 small avocado, diced
- Optional: 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
- Prep vegetables: Dice tomatoes, onion, and peppers to uniform small pieces. Chop cilantro.
- Combine: In glass bowl, gently mix all ingredients except avocado.
- Rest: Let sit at room temperature 15-30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Adjust: Taste and add more lime or salt if needed. Fold in avocado if using.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping.

- For best texture: Use firm-ripe tomatoes and drain excess liquid after chopping
- Heat control: Start with ½ pepper and add more to taste
