- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- Powdered sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract and red food coloring.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop dough and roll into balls, then coat in powdered sugar.
- Place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set but middle looks slightly underbaked.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use gel food coloring for brighter cookies. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
