Description

A refreshing Spanish-style red wine sangria packed with fresh fruit and a hint of citrus, perfect for summer gatherings and parties!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Granny Smith or other green apple, cored and chopped
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced, then quartered
  • 1 lemon or lime, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup raspberries or sliced strawberries
  • 1 (750 mL) bottle of Tempranillo, Garnacha, or Rioja wine (I personally love [Specific Wine Brand] for its rich berry notes)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or brandy (I prefer [Brand Name] for its smooth flavor)

Instructions

  1. In large pitcher, combine wine, brandy, orange liqueur and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add orange, lemon, lime and apple slices. Refrigerate at least 4 hours (preferably overnight).
  3. Just before serving, stir in club soda.
  4. Serve over ice in wine glasses, garnished with fresh mint and fruit slices.

Notes

  • For sweeter sangria, add 1/4 cup more sugar or substitute with honey
  • Add 1 cup diced pineapple or peaches for tropical variation
  • Can substitute white wine for red (reduce sugar to 2 tbsp)
  • Fruit absorbs alcohol – eat cautiously!
