Description
A refreshing Spanish-style red wine sangria packed with fresh fruit and a hint of citrus, perfect for summer gatherings and parties!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Granny Smith or other green apple, cored and chopped
- 1 orange, thinly sliced, then quartered
- 1 lemon or lime, thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup raspberries or sliced strawberries
- 1 (750 mL) bottle of Tempranillo, Garnacha, or Rioja wine (I personally love [Specific Wine Brand] for its rich berry notes)
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or brandy (I prefer [Brand Name] for its smooth flavor)
Instructions
- In large pitcher, combine wine, brandy, orange liqueur and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Add orange, lemon, lime and apple slices. Refrigerate at least 4 hours (preferably overnight).
- Just before serving, stir in club soda.
- Serve over ice in wine glasses, garnished with fresh mint and fruit slices.
Notes
- For sweeter sangria, add 1/4 cup more sugar or substitute with honey
- Add 1 cup diced pineapple or peaches for tropical variation
- Can substitute white wine for red (reduce sugar to 2 tbsp)
- Fruit absorbs alcohol – eat cautiously!
