Description

A tender and flavorful prime rib recipe perfect for holiday celebrations, ensuring a juicy roast with a savory crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Prime Rib Roast (about 57 pounds)
  • Kosher Salt
  • Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • Fresh Rosemary or Thyme
  • Olive Oil
  • Low-Sodium Beef Broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Let the prime rib sit, covered, at room temperature for one hour.
  3. Rub the roast with olive oil and season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chosen fresh herbs.
  4. Place the roast in a roasting pan, bone side down.
  5. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  6. Lower the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches desired doneness (about 130°F for medium-rare).
  7. Remove the roast from the oven and allow it to rest for 20-30 minutes.
  8. Serve with beef broth as a gravy.

Notes

For ultimate juiciness, consider broiling the roast for the last few minutes. Leftovers can be used for sandwiches or beef stroganoff.
