Description

Delightful and moist biscuits soaked in a buttery peach sauce, perfect for breakfast or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 can (15 ounces) canned peaches in fruit juice, drained and chopped
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for sprinkling on top)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for sprinkling on top)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and kosher salt.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until mostly combined.
  4. Gently fold in the drained and chopped peaches.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and remaining ¼ teaspoon cinnamon.
  6. Pour the melted butter mixture into an 8×8-inch baking dish and spread the dough on top.
  7. In another small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon, then sprinkle 1 tablespoon over the dough.
  8. Using a knife, gently score the unbaked dough into 9 equal squares.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Once done, sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture on top (optional).

Notes

Serve warm for the best experience. These biscuits pair well with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
