Description

Delicious homemade Orange Rolls bursting with citrusy flavor, perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt; mix well.
  2. Warm milk and butter until touch warm (110°F).
  3. Add warm milk and butter to dry ingredients, then add egg, orange zest, and orange juice; mix until dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough, cut into strips, and roll into individual rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth for the icing.
  10. Drizzle icing over warm rolls and serve.
