Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dough:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • For the Coating:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Make Dough: Mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, orange juice, melted butter, egg, and zest. Knead 5 mins until smooth. Let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  2. Prep Coating: Mix sugar, orange zest, and cinnamon in one bowl; place melted butter in another.
  3. Shape: Punch down dough. Pinch off walnut-sized pieces, roll into balls. Dip each in butter, then sugar mixture.
  4. Layer: Arrange coated balls in greased Bundt pan. Cover and rise 30 mins.
  5. Make Glaze: Simmer brown sugar, butter, orange juice, vanilla, and salt until syrupy (3-4 mins). Pour over risen dough.
  6. Bake: At 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 mins until golden. Cool 10 mins before inverting onto plate.

Notes

  • Time-saver: Use 2 cans (16.3 oz each) refrigerated biscuit dough instead of homemade
  • Adult version: Add 1 tbsp Grand Marnier to the glaze
  • Make ahead: Prepare through step 4, refrigerate overnight, then bake with glaze next morning
  • Storage: Best eaten day-of, but reheats well in microwave (10-15 sec per piece)
