Description

A vibrant homemade orange curd recipe that turns simple ingredients into a creamy, citrusy delight for various dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium oranges
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Grate the skin of the oranges to get 1 tablespoon of zest.
  2. Juice the oranges to get about 1/2 cup of juice.
  3. In a stand mixer, beat the butter and sugar at medium speed until blended and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating until fully incorporated after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix in the orange juice and lemon juice until combined.
  6. Stir in the orange zest.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, whisking constantly, until it thickens and reaches 170°F (77°C), about 14-16 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and transfer to a heat-safe bowl. Cover the curd with plastic wrap tightly pressed against the surface and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for better emulsification. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
