A hearty and comforting bowl of Old Fashioned Chili, perfect for family gatherings and chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: Sour cream, shredded cheese, and chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, crumble and cook the ground beef for about 5–7 minutes until browned.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Stir in the rinsed beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, and cumin. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer; reduce heat to low and cook uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve topped with your favorite garnishes.

Notes

For best results, let the chili simmer to deepen flavors. Adjust spices according to taste.
