Description

Light and airy cream puffs filled with silky whipped cream, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring water and butter to a rolling boil, then reduce heat to low simmer.
  3. Stir in sifted flour and salt until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Allow the dough to cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed up.
  8. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  10. Slice cream puffs in half, fill with whipped cream, and replace tops. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a shiny finish, glaze the puffs with a beaten egg before baking. Store unfilled puffs at room temperature; filled ones are best eaten the same day.
