Description

A delightful blend of creamy goat cheese and crispy, caramelized bacon wrapped into a log, perfect for parties and gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack of thick-cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 baguette
  • Olive oil, salt, and pepper
  • 4 or 8-ounce log of goat cheese
  • Maple syrup (or honey, or hot honey)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar with water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Lay the bacon strips flat on the sheet, brush them with the sugar mixture, and sprinkle with extra black pepper.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until crispy and caramelized.
  5. While the bacon cooks, slice the baguette into ½-inch pieces, brush with olive oil, and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Once cooled, lay out parchment paper and cut the bacon into manageable lengths.
  7. Spread goat cheese over the bacon, roll tightly into a log, drizzle with maple syrup, and chill for 30 minutes.

Notes

Make a day in advance for easier party prep. Can substitute bacon with mushrooms for a vegetarian option.
