Description

Indulge in these crispy, caramelized bacon crostini topped with creamy goat cheese and drizzled with maple syrup for an unforgettable appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 2 packs thick-cut bacon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 large baguette, sliced into 24 rounds
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz goat cheese log
  • Maple syrup, honey, or hot honey for drizzling
  • Optional garnish: chopped fresh thyme, chives, or candied pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes. Dredge each bacon strip in this mixture.
  3. Lay the bacon strips on the rack and bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. While the bacon cooks, brush the sliced baguette rounds with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and toast in the oven for 8–10 minutes until golden.
  5. Once the bacon is cool, chop it into bite-size pieces and spread goat cheese on each crostini, top with bacon pieces, and drizzle with maple syrup or honey.
  6. Garnish with fresh herbs or candied nuts and serve warm.

Notes

For an extra twist, add smoked paprika or use cream cheese mixed with goat cheese for a milder flavor.
