Ingredients

  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tbsp high-quality matcha powder

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough between two bowls and incorporate matcha into one.
  6. Create marbled dough balls using 1 tablespoon of each dough.
  7. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, flatten slightly, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.
  8. Cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Ensure butter is softened and matcha is sifted for best results. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
