- 1 large egg (beaten)

Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken into 8 parts, discarding the carcass. Pat dry to ensure a crispy finish.
- Marinate: In a large bowl, whisk together buttermilk and the beaten egg. Add the chicken, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for maximum flavor absorption.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In another large bowl, combine flour and spices. This mixture will create the flavorful crust!
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 175°F and prepare a baking sheet with a wire rack for the fried chicken.
- Heat the Oil: In a deep fryer or Dutch oven, heat 3 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F.
- Coat and Fry: Remove chicken from buttermilk and coat in flour mixture. Fry 3–4 pieces at a time for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.
- Transfer: Once fried, transfer chicken to the rack in the oven to keep warm while frying the remaining pieces.
- Final Check: Ensure all pieces reach an internal temperature of 165°F before serving.
