Description

A warm and comforting peach cobbler that captures the essence of summer with its sweet peach filling and crispy cobbler topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for peaches)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for batter)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Prep the peaches: In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches with 1 cup of granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice. Stir to coat and let sit for about 10 minutes to release the juices.
  2. Melt the butter: While the peaches rest, place the butter in your baking dish and melt it in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C).
  3. Mix the batter: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Combine the batter: Carefully pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish without stirring.
  5. Layer on the peaches: Spoon the peach mixture, including the juices, over the batter without stirring it in.
  6. Spice it up: Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
  7. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling.

Notes

Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
