Description

A delightful pasta dish baked to perfection, combining flavorful Italian sausage with penne pasta, marinara sauce, and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the penne in boiling salted water until al dente, drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté garlic for 30 seconds. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned (5-7 minutes).
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning; let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked penne, sausage mixture, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, salt, and pepper.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days and can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight for best results.
