Description
Master the art of cooking Thai jasmine rice to achieve fluffy, aromatic perfection every time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Thai jasmine rice
- 1 1/4 cups cold or room temperature water
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice: Start by rinsing 1 cup of Thai jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear.
- Combine rice and water: Add the rinsed rice to your pot and pour in 1 1/4 cups of water. Optionally, sprinkle in a pinch of salt.
- Bring to a simmer: Turn the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, watching carefully to prevent overboiling.
- Reduce heat & cover: Once simmering, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot tightly with a lid and cook undisturbed for about 20 minutes.
- Check for doneness: After 20 minutes, check the bottom of the pot to ensure it’s dry. If so, let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes off the heat.
- Fluff and serve: Use a fork to gently fluff the rice before serving.
Notes
Rinsing the rice thoroughly before cooking is key to preventing clumping. For extra flavor, consider adding butter or coconut oil.
