Ham and Cheese Quiche

Ham and Cheese Quiche

  • Author: chef caterina
  • Total Time: 2 hours (includes chilling)
  • Yield: 6-8 servings

Description

A classic savory quiche with tender ham, melty cheese, and a rich custard filling in a flaky homemade crust – perfect for brunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 Store-Bought or Homemade Pie Crust
  • 1 cup (150 g) Cooked Ham, Diced
  • 1 cup (100 g) Shredded Cheese (Cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère)
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Milk (or Half-and-Half for Creamier Texture)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (Optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley or Chives, Chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a store-bought crust, place it in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges. For a perfectly baked crust, blind bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove it from the oven.

Prepare the Filling:

Spread the diced ham evenly over the bottom of the crust, followed by the shredded cheese. Feel free to mix the ham and cheese together for a delicious surprise in every bite!

Make the Egg Mixture:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using) until smooth. This is the time to add in any additional flavorings or herbs you like.

Assemble the Quiche:

Pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese in the crust, ensuring everything is evenly distributed. Watch as the mixture fills those nooks and crannies, just waiting to become something extraordinary.

Bake the Quiche:

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly golden on top. To test for doneness, a knife inserted into the center should come out clean. The smell should be heavenly by now!

Cool and Serve:

Allow the quiche to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows it to set further and makes for cleaner slices. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired. Enjoy your culinary creation!
