- 2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 8 ounces cream cheese (full-fat, room temperature)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup guava paste (or guava jam)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and softened butter until smooth.
- Add sugar, egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until the dough comes together.
- Cover the bowl and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Scoop out 1-inch balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Press an indent into each cookie with your thumb and fill with warmed guava paste.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool completely on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For best results, ensure butter and cream cheese are at room temperature. Chill the dough thoroughly to prevent spreading.
