Description

A delightful mix of tropical guava and creamy goodness wrapped in flaky puff pastry.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup guava paste (cut into small pieces)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened at room temperature)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash – optional)
  • Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  3. Cut the pastry into squares or rectangles approximately 4 inches x 4 inches.
  4. Place a small piece of guava paste and a spoonful of cream cheese in the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold the pastry over to create a pocket and seal the edges by pressing them together.
  6. Brush the tops with an egg wash to add sheen if desired.
  7. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing a pinch of cinnamon into the cream cheese, or substitute guava with other fruit preserves.
