  • For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, followed by the molasses and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes before transferring.
  9. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  10. Gradually add in the sifted powdered sugar and mix until fluffy, then blend in vanilla extract and cinnamon.
  11. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled bars.
  12. Cut into squares and serve.
