Description

Celebrate love with these oversized cookies that feature crispy edges and a soft, chewy center, blending rich chocolate and colorful candy-coated chocolates.


Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 egg (whisked)
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp espresso powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces (like M&M’s)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix 3 tbsp melted butter with 1/3 cup brown sugar and 2 tbsp granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the whisked half-egg and 3/4 tsp vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp flour, 1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp espresso powder, and 1/8 tsp salt.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Stir in 1/3 cup chocolate chips.
  7. Shape the dough into a 7-inch circle on the prepared baking sheet and top with 1/4 cup candy-coated chocolates.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes until edges are set and center is soft.
  9. Cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.

Notes

Cool cookies completely before storing. For a crispier edge, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
