Description

Ingredients

  • Prime Rib Roast: 4-6 pounds
  • Garlic: 8 cloves, minced
  • Unsalted Butter: ½ cup, room temperature
  • Fresh Rosemary: 2 tablespoons, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper: to taste
  • Olive Oil: for coating the roast

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
  2. Let the prime rib sit at room temperature for about 1 hour.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, salt, and pepper.
  4. Rub olive oil all over the roast.
  5. Generously apply the garlic butter mixture all over the meat.
  6. Place the roast bone-side down on a rack in a roasting pan and roast for 15 minutes at 500°F.
  7. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and roast until desired doneness (approx. 1.5 hours for medium-rare).
  8. Let the roast rest for 20 minutes before carving.
