A comforting Southern dessert made with canned peaches, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 1 large can (29 oz) sliced peaches, reserved syrup
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish in the oven.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk and optional vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
- Spoon the reserved peaches and syrup over the batter without stirring.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top if desired.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Refrigerate leftovers for up to a week.
