- 1 box (15.25 ounces) butter yellow cake mix
- 1 container (8 ounces) sour cream
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 3/4 cup (163.5 g) vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup (200 g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups (250 g) confectioners’ sugar
- 1/4 cup (61 g) whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
- Combine the cake mix, sour cream, eggs, vegetable oil, and water in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Blend together the brown sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl for the filling.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the first layer of batter.
- Pour the remaining batter over the filling carefully.
- Swirl through the batter gently using a butter knife to create a marbled effect.
- Bake for 38 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Prepare the glaze by whisking together the confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour the warm glaze over the cooled cake and let it soak in.
- Cool the cake for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature. This cake can be personalized with chocolate chips or nuts.
