Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake blended with whiskey, featuring layers of ganache for a decadent dessert experience.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Dutch processed cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 5 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons whiskey (for ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch metal baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl by microwave in 30-second intervals until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Mix together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl.
  4. Beat the eggs and sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  5. Combine the melted chocolate, vegetable oil, water, and whiskey into the egg mixture, blending until smooth.
  6. Fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture gently until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 46-48 minutes.
  8. Prepare the ganache by melting semi-sweet chocolate chips, heavy cream, and whiskey over low heat until smooth, then cool slightly before drizzling over the cake.
