Description

Hearty and flavorful sandwiches featuring tender cube steak cooked with caramelized onions in a savory Worcestershire and beef broth sauce, served on toasted sub rolls with melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Tbsp butter, divided
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 lb beef cube steaks
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp hot sauce
  • 6 sub rolls, halved lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt 2 Tbsp butter in skillet. Cook onions 10 minutes until caramelized. Remove and set aside.
  2. Slice cube steaks, season with salt. Melt 2 Tbsp butter in same skillet. Brown steak 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add broth, Worcestershire, hot sauce, and onions. Simmer 10 minutes until liquid reduces. Stir in remaining 2 Tbsp butter.
  4. Toast sub rolls under broiler 2-3 minutes.
  5. Mix mayonnaise and mustard. Spread on rolls.
  6. Top with steak mixture and cheese. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Cut steak against the grain for maximum tenderness
  • Leftovers keep in refrigerator for 3 days
