Description
A warm, spiced crockpot apple cider that fills your home with the comforting aromas of fall. This easy slow cooker recipe uses fresh apples and warm spices for the perfect cozy beverage.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 apples (any variety you love, like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith – fresher is always better!)
- 1 orange, quartered (adds a lovely zest)
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1½ tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp whole cloves
- 14 cups water (use filtered for the best flavor)
- ⅓ cup sugar (adjust to your taste)
- ¼ cup agave nectar
- ¼ cup caramel sauce (a delightful touch for sweetness)
- ½ cup caramel vodka (optional but oh-so-fun!)
- Additional cinnamon sticks, apple slices, and orange slices for garnish (optional but beautiful!)
Instructions
- Rinse apples and orange (no need to peel) and cut into quarters.
- Place all ingredients in a 6-quart crockpot: apples, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and brown sugar.
- Pour water over ingredients until everything is submerged.
- Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
- After cooking, mash the softened apples with a potato masher, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
- Serve warm in mugs, garnished with cinnamon sticks or apple slices. Add bourbon if desired.
Notes
- For clearer cider, tie spices in cheesecloth before adding to crockpot.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more sugar after straining if needed.
- Leftover cider keeps refrigerated for 5 days or can be frozen for 2 months.
